Meet Diana

Diana's interest in crafts started when she was invited to the Police Ball at the Pump Rooms in the City of Bath. A very prestigious Ball, and she did not have a dress suitable for such a glamorous occasion. So on an impulse, Diana purchased a very old Treadle sewing machine and opted to make a Ball gown. Her fabric choice was a very slippery satin in a lovely peach shade. The design included a boned and ruched bodice with diamante straps and very full underskirts. Diana now would think twice before making this again! BUT it was an amazing success, the photo below shows her with her fiancé at the Ball.

Whilst raising three children, coping with three dogs, two rabbits and keeping a full time job with travel, she managed to find time to make curtains, furnishing items and upholstery. These were really times to make do and mend.

When all the children flew the nest and whilst still working full time she enrolled on a patisserie and sugar craft City and Guilds course at Bath College. This ultimately led to her tutoring adult classes there for a short time, in sugar craft.

Later on she opened a studio at home and held classes several times a week. During this time Diana decided to give up full time employment, as she really enjoyed the teaching. Over this period Diana won many sugar craft awards with her creations.

Unfortunately, in 2000, disaster hit her like a bomb and she was diagnosed with serious health issues. Whilst going through these tough times, she had to drop the sugar craft lessons and so decided that art would help to aid in her recovery.

Yet again she was trying something new, that she had no experience in, but she had always loved to explore, and learn new talents.

So with the purchase of two large boxes of colour and aqua pencils, she joined an art group and subsequently became a founding member of the Bath Society of Botanical artists.

It has only been a couple of years that Diana has returned to sewing, again on a whim which has led to where she is today.

Living with her husband Bryan and dog Betty, she is now keeping busy sewing her unique creations for her clients to enjoy.
